Privacy Policy

The short version
FeedWise is unusually private, because of how it is built. Your horses, their photos, weights, notes and care history are saved in your own web browser — they are never uploaded to us, and we cannot see them. We do not run analytics, advertising, or tracking software. If you subscribe, payment is handled entirely by Stripe, and we never see your card number.
What we collect
This policy explains how FeedWise ("we", "us") — contactable at hellofeedwise@gmail.com — handles information on feed-wise.com and in the FeedWise app. There are only a few categories:
- Information you type into the app (your name, email, password, and your horses' details) — this is stored on your device only. See the next section.
- Payment and subscription information, if you choose to subscribe — collected and stored by Stripe, not by us.
- Basic technical information that any website receives when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. Our host, Cloudflare, processes this to serve the site and protect it from attacks.
- Anything you send us directly, such as an email asking a question.
Information that stays on your device
When you use the FeedWise app, the information you enter is saved using your browser's local storage. That includes:
- The name, email address, and password you enter on the welcome screen
- Your horses — names, photos, breed, age, weight, work level, health conditions, and supplements
- Weight logs, vet and farrier visit history, and any notes you write
- Your region and the overnight temperature you last used
This information never leaves your device. It is not transmitted to us, and there is no FeedWise server or database holding your horses. We cannot look it up, recover it, or share it, because we never receive it.
Two things to understand about that. First, because your data lives in your browser, clearing your browsing data, using a different device, or using a different browser will make it appear to disappear — it is not backed up anywhere. Second, the password you set on the welcome screen is currently a placeholder for a future account system: it is not used to encrypt anything and does not protect your data. Please do not enter a password you use anywhere else.
Other companies we use
We keep this list short on purpose.
- Cloudflare — hosts the website and delivers it to your browser. Cloudflare processes technical information such as IP addresses for security and performance.
- Stripe — processes subscription payments. When you click a subscribe button you are taken to a checkout page hosted by Stripe, where Stripe collects your name, email address, billing details and payment method. We receive a record that a subscription exists and the email associated with it; we never receive your full card number. Stripe handles that information under its own privacy policy.
- Open-Meteo — provides weather data. See the next section.
We do not use Google Analytics or any other analytics product, we do not run advertising, and we do not embed social media tracking pixels.
Location and weather
FeedWise can look up last night's low temperature, because cold nights change how much sugar grass holds. This is optional and only happens when you tap the button that asks for it.
- If you allow it, your browser shares your approximate coordinates with the page, and those coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to retrieve the forecast for your area.
- If you decline, or if your device cannot determine a location, FeedWise instead looks up a sample city for the region you selected.
- You can always skip this entirely and set the temperature yourself with the slider.
- We do not store your coordinates, and we never receive them ourselves.
How information is used
We use the limited information we do receive only to:
- Operate, secure and troubleshoot the website
- Provide and manage subscriptions, including billing and cancellations
- Respond to you if you contact us
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information if we are legally required to, or to protect the safety and rights of people using the site.
Children
FeedWise is intended for adults who own or care for horses. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Subscriptions may only be purchased by someone 18 or older. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us at hellofeedwise@gmail.com and we will address it.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your app data: clear your browser's site data for feed-wise.com, or use your browser's privacy settings. Because the data is only on your device, this removes it completely.
- Cancel a subscription: see the cancellation section of our Terms, or email us and we will cancel it for you.
- Access, correct or delete billing information: email us at hellofeedwise@gmail.com and we will work with Stripe to handle your request.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information — for example under the GDPR or state privacy laws. We will honor valid requests; contact us to make one.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Payment information is handled by Stripe, which is certified to the PCI-DSS standard for payment security. That said, no method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because your horse data stays in your browser, its security also depends on the security of your own device.
Changes to this policy
If we change how FeedWise handles information — for example, if we add real accounts stored on a server — we will update this page and change the "last updated" date above. If the change is significant, we will make it clear on the site.
