FeedWise gives estimates, not veterinary advice. Horses are living animals, and feeding mistakes can cause serious illness or death. Always confirm feeding decisions with a licensed veterinarian who has examined your horse, and have your hay tested. You use FeedWise at your own risk.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and FeedWise ("we", "us"), which operates the website feed-wise.com and can be reached at hellofeedwise@gmail.com and the FeedWise application (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Who may use FeedWise
- You may browse and use the free features if you are old enough to do so under the laws where you live.
- You must be at least 18 years old to purchase a subscription or enter into any paid agreement with us.
- If you are under 18, you may only use the Service with the involvement and permission of a parent or guardian.
- The Service is intended for adults who own or care for horses. It is not directed to children under 13.
3. What FeedWise is
FeedWise is a software tool that estimates how much hay and grain a horse may need, based on information you provide (such as weight, breed, age, work level and health conditions) and general information about your region (such as typical hay types, estimated sugar levels, typical prices, and overnight temperature). It also offers optional record-keeping features such as weight logs and vet or farrier reminders.
FeedWise calculations are based on published general equine nutrition guidance and common practice. Regional hay types, sugar percentages and prices are estimates and averages, not measurements of your actual hay.
4. Not veterinary advice
This is the most important term in this agreement.
- FeedWise is not a veterinarian, does not practice veterinary medicine, and does not provide veterinary, medical, nutritional, or professional advice.
- No veterinarian-client-patient relationship is created by using the Service.
- The Service has not examined your horse and does not know its actual condition, medical history, or the actual nutritional content of your feed.
- Outputs are estimates for informational purposes only and are a starting point for a conversation with your veterinarian — not instructions to follow.
- You should have your hay tested by a laboratory to learn its real sugar and nutrient content, particularly for horses with insulin resistance, Cushing's disease (PPID), laminitis, or PSSM.
- Never delay, disregard, or change professional veterinary care because of something FeedWise displayed. If your horse is unwell, contact a veterinarian immediately.
You are solely responsible for the care, health, and feeding of your animals, and for every decision you make about them.
5. Your information
Information you enter into the app is stored in your own browser and is not sent to us. We cannot recover it if it is lost, and it is not backed up. Please keep your own records of anything important. The password field in the app is currently a placeholder and does not secure your data — do not reuse a password from another service. See our Privacy Policy for details.
6. Subscriptions and billing
Some features are offered on a paid subscription. When you subscribe:
- Monthly plan: $10.00 USD per month, billed monthly.
- Yearly plan: $100.00 USD per year, billed annually.
- Free trial: the monthly plan currently includes a 7-day free trial. You will be asked for a payment method when you sign up, and you will not be charged during the trial.
- Automatic renewal: unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription automatically begins and your payment method is charged $10.00. Subscriptions then renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, until you cancel.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing you also agree to Stripe's terms. We do not receive or store your full card number.
- Prices are in U.S. dollars and do not include any taxes that may apply.
- We may change prices. If we do, we will give you notice, and the new price will apply to billing periods that begin after the notice.
7. Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel at any time. To cancel:
- Use the "Manage subscription" or billing link in your Stripe receipt email, or
- Email us at hellofeedwise@gmail.com and we will cancel it for you.
If you cancel during the free trial, you will not be charged. If you cancel after that, your subscription remains active until the end of the period you already paid for, and it will not renew again.
Because the Service is delivered digitally and immediately, payments are generally non-refundable except where required by law. That said, we are a small operation and we would rather you be happy than hold your money: if something went wrong, email us and we will look at it fairly.
8. Acceptable use
Please do not:
- Use the Service to break the law, or to harm any person or animal
- Try to break, overload, probe, or gain unauthorized access to the Service
- Copy, resell, or redistribute the Service or its content as your own
- Present FeedWise output to others as professional veterinary advice
9. Ownership
The FeedWise name, logo, design, text, and software are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may use the Service for your own personal or business horse-care purposes. Anything you enter about your own horses remains yours — and stays on your device.
10. No warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any calculation, estimate, price, sugar level, or weather value is accurate or suitable for your horse.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR FOR ANY INJURY TO, ILLNESS OF, OR DEATH OF ANY ANIMAL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
Some states and countries do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, and reasonable legal fees arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your care of your animals.
13. Changes and ending service
We may update these Terms; when we do, we will change the "last updated" date and, for significant changes, note it on the site. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms. We may also modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service, or suspend an account that violates these Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in that state, and you and we consent to that jurisdiction.
15. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to hellofeedwise@gmail.com.
